A successful career isn't just about following a structured ladder of vertical promotion but about broadening skills, widening roles, engaging in critical projects and lateral moves. A successful career benefits both the employee and EBPO and involves initiative and effort on both sides. It is a partnership between the employee, Manager and the organisation.
Learning and development activities support two purposes:
- ensuring the employee has the right knowledge, skills and experience to perform their current role effectively
- helping the employee develop their career in line with their and EBPO'S needs
EBPO recognises that there is no single one solution that will meet everyone's learning and development needs or personal preferred learning style, therefore we offer a wide range of activities to address professional, technical and soft skill needs and strongly advocate a "blended" approach to learning (combining different means of learning to address a specific training need e.g. workplace learning, e-learning, reading, courses).
Learning and development needs are identified and actions agreed as a result of:
- Joining EBPO
- Interim and annual performance review processes
- Agreeing and reviewing personal development plans
- End of assignment reviews
- Promotions
- Lateral moves within EBPO
Here is just a selection of the current learning and development activities available to employees:
-
Developing EBPO Behaviours - a framework is provided with suggested paths to help employees develop the behaviours valued by EBPO via self managed development e.g. suggested activities, reading recommendations
-
Workplace based learning
-
Coaching and mentoring
-
E learning - a wide range of modules on both technical and soft skills are available and supplemented by guidance to get the most from e learning, online mentoring, resources, hosted
-
seminars, and discussion groups to make the experience as interactive as possible
-
Face to face learning events - internal and external courses (some leading to professional qualifications such as ITIL, ISEB), workshops, and seminars
Learning and development opportunities available may vary depending on the country of employment.
